Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive.
DO I REALLY NEED A KITCHEN DESIGNER?
Yes! We’re specialists at what we do and using an experienced kitchen designer will save you time, money, and frustration. We'll show you solutions you never would have thought of, and we’re especially adept at dealing with the architectural and construction challenges that crop up on nearly every project.
Our expertise is very helpful for those on a tight budget as well. We'll make sure you get the highest quality and best design for your investment, no matter how large or how small your project may be. We've got lots of design tricks up our sleeves that can help!
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER KITCHEN PLACES ON CAPE COD?
We’re dedicated kitchen design professionals and have been in the business of designing and installing outstanding kitchens & baths for nearly four decades. We are not a handyman or decorator or furniture store that may only do a few kitchens a year and then advertises as kitchen designers or remodelers. We've completed hundreds of kitchens. Experience really matters when you want exceptional results, and you can trust us that your project will be thoughtfully designed, expertly installed, truly functional, & beautiful to look at.
Thanks to decades of experience in both kitchens & remodeling we’re well versed in building codes and processes, as well as educated on design trends, new products, appliances, materials and colors. We're always current on everything new and fabulous in the kitchen & bath design world.
WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DO YOU DO?
We design, specify, install and remodel kitchens and baths, and can also help you with laundries, mudrooms, libraries, media rooms, custom built-ins and home offices - anywhere you need us. We know the process can be overwhelming, so we advise on material and color selections, help you with all your decisions and make sure your project is not just outstanding but exactly what you wanted.
If you can dream it, we can do it.
WHERE DO YOUR MATERIALS COME FROM?
Our beautiful cabinetry is all made in North America - we DO NOT USE any Chinese-made cabinetry whatsoever. We pride ourselves on only offering quality materials we'd be happy to install in our own home, from cabinetry & countertops to hardware, accessories and fixtures - we have everything needed to complete your project.
All of our cabinetry comes with limited lifetime warranties.
We can also source green materials and accommodate special requests.
HOW DO WE GET THE PROCESS STARTED?
The best way is to contact us via email or use our online contact form so we can set up your free, no-obligation consultation. If we miss your call, please leave a voicemail, which we check frequently.
By the way, we are available by appointment any time – including nights or weekends – at your convenience. We’re a little hard to locate on Main St. so if you’re coming to our office, ask us for directions and landmarks. We’re worth finding!
WHAT HAPPENS AT OUR INITIAL MEETING?
First, we have a good long chat about your project. We’ll talk for an hour or so to find out what your goals are, get to know each other, and see if we will work well together - which is always key to a great collaboration. Your first consultation is always complimentary.
With remodels, we like our first meeting to be at your home if possible, because it allows us to walk in with fresh eyes and no preconceived ideas – and after all, we need to see the patient before we can make a diagnosis! If it’s new construction we will meet at our office to review and discuss your architectural plans.
WE'D LIKE TO WORK WITH YOU. NOW WHAT?
We discuss all the elements of working together, including our fee structure, which is based on project size and complexity.
Once the formalities taken care of, we schedule to come out to do a full measure and an in-depth interview with you which includes determining your scope of work and budget, your appliance and plumbing requirements and other aspects of the design, then we'll get to work on what it takes to accomplish your goals.
ONCE YOU'VE MEASURED, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET BACK TO ME?
Give us 10-14 business days to draft up a preliminary design, after which we will meet to discuss and refine the design until it meets your every requirement. Once the layout is exactly what you want, we work together on defining your style, material and color selections and we’ll start sourcing these items for you.
The next step after finalizing all the materials is putting pricing together if you select the Design Plus or the Design+Build option. There are lot of selections to make so this process can take from a few weeks to a month plus, depending on how decisive you are.
DO YOU USE A CONTRACT?
You will always get a completely itemized estimate first that will show you every specific aspect of your project line by line (including both materials and labor) and once everything is agreed upon and finalized, we absolutely use contracts with every detail spelled out so everything is clear to everyone. Contracts protect all parties and help to eliminate misunderstandings.
THE TRUTH — HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
This is a little hard to nail down, only because each of our projects is unique. A simple kitchen replacement with minimal or no remodeling can take 3-4 weeks after receipt of all materials.
On a project that requires extensive carpentry, window movement or replacement, wall removal and/or new flooring, all the associated contractor work can take several months. This is something we discuss as we go through the process — you will be given an idea of what to expect based on the scope of the project.
If you have a particular time frame or deadline for completion, it’s always best to start the planning process several months in advance, to be sure your schedule is met. Please let us know if you have a specific deadline so we can do our best to meet it!
